Mark Mardell, the BBC’s Europe editor and bon vivant, has recently moved to Brussels, a place he describes as having “pretensions to be the capital of Europe.”
Speaking of pretensions, in this article he mentions a few things he misses:
“Fresh pak choi, for a start. Most of the lemon grass is frozen and fresh galangal never to be found. As for grachai it’s impossible.”
My heart goes out to the man …
Not one for frivolous food, last night I got home and spent half an hour reading a newspaper. I ate a bag of crisps. G got home. We went for a beer. On our return I put a frozen pizza in the oven, had another beer and went to bed, happy and fat, on a full-stomach.
According to research in Denmark, living alone doubles your risk of heart failure.
God forbid.
